And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- 2 Peter 1.19-21 -
During the Advent season, we spend a lot of time reading the Hebrew Prophets in the Old Testament and the things they foretold about the coming Messiah. Here, the Apostle Peter is affirming that what God spoke through the prophets of old has come to pass through the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Our theme this month is "Heaven & Nature." Telling the Christmas story with the understanding that when Christ came to live among us Heaven & Nature were joined together. The God of Heaven entered into and lived among human nature, making a way from humanity to be reconciled back to God.

The gifts of the Spirit, including prophecy, are another way that God connects Heaven and nature. Heaven speaks through earthly men and women. The Word of Heaven is delivered through a human voice with a prophetic gift. While we believe that the Bible is the complete and authoritative word of God, we believe that God still can and does speak to and through his people.

Today, ask God to give you a fresh prophetic word for your life and for the lives of those around you. Ask God to speak to you and ask God to speak through you. Through Christ, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be prophetic voices in this generation. Open your mouth today and speak God's word over yourself and over all those around you.
